With our first build, we set out to create a home that is more than walls and beams—a place that breathes with the land, shaped by the vision of our family and grounded in the quiet beauty of Colbert Hills. Framed by the brilliance of Kansas’ electrical storms and nestled in the rolling Flint Hills, this home stands as a reflection of the care, craft, and love we poured into every detail.
We envisioned light as sculptors, wrapping tile floors inspired by weathered cedar planks and gliding along exposed beams that stretch gracefully across vaulted ceilings. The three-blade fans, chosen to echo the elegance of early flight, stir the air in a timeless rhythm, while warm, recessed LEDs illuminate every space with a gentle glow.
In the Primary bathroom, we sought to create a sanctuary—rain showers cascading past dual oil-rubbed bronze heads to meet iridescent tiles woven with silver grout. The 62-inch linear drain and freestanding tub were placed not just for function, but to inspire a sense of calm and beauty. Each room, from the five serene bedrooms to the game room and adjoining bar, was designed with the life we imagined unfolding here—full of connection, celebration, and quiet moments of reflection.
For us, this home is a legacy. It carries the pulse of the family who built it, a heartbeat born of shared dreams and hard work. Sharing it with its current inhabitants, as they weave their own story into its walls, became our greatest gift as a first build that year.
